Little Canfield News
ALL SAINTS' LITTLE CANFIELD NEWS
With our goodbyes and good wishes having been sent with Laurie and Dawn on their new venture, we find ourselves looking at the rapidly advancing end of the year. Last month the P.C.Cs of both Takeley and Little Canfield enjoyed a get together at the Lion and Lamb – over tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits you understand!! We had a chance to meet each other and to discuss how things will run without Laurie.
One of the main things we are considering is the joining of our PCCs for administrative purposes. Both churches would stay the same, maintaining their individuality and services (but there would be much less paperwork and duplication of jobs). There are lots of things to work out, but we will keep everyone informed as we look into the process.
Christmas is coming speedily and it all starts with our Christingle service on the 6th December. The preparations for this candle-lit service are getting underway - namely the collecting of the sweet treats for the Christingles themselves! Please do bring the family to join us for this beautiful service at 4pm on Sunday 6th Dec. We would love to share our Christingles with you – and it’s for a very good cause: the Children’s Society.
There are services for all ages and preferences over the Christmas season – see page 2 of this magazine – the Family Carol Service (on Christmas Eve) is well attended and good fun! We have our Midnight Communion here at 11.30pm as well this year, which is a very special service, when Christmas really begins. And on Christmas Day there’s a joint Family Communion at Takeley at 10am – bring your best present and show everyone at this short, informal service. (And be back at home in time to organise lunch!)
And, looking forward to January, there is a Four O’clock Fun service on the 17th – a joint service for both churches – at Takeley church. If you came to the pet service, it’s similar to that but with more things to do. Very interactive and child-friendly.
The provisional date for the Village meal at the Lion and Lamb is – 7pm for 7.15pm on Wednesday 13th January. Please let Sue Gowlett know if you are planning to go to the meal - on 01279 871345. Anybody living in Little Canfield or attending All Saints, Little Canfield is welcome to come.
If you would like to attend a church service, meal or other event and need transport, PLEASE ask Teresa or one of the wardens to enquire, there is usually somebody willing and able to offer a lift.
Please continue to save used Printer Cartridges – laser, inkjet or whatever – for recycling. You can give them to Stretch or Beth to pass on, or leave them at the church for us to pick up.
